Oklahoma City

Halfway Point – Oklahoma City!!!!

(7 hours 52 min; 486 miles; Total Hours: 19 hours 37 min; Total Miles: 1219)

Highway Rating:

North Carolina – 4 out of 10 (we thought we would go up!)

Tennessee – 7 out of 10

Arkansas - 3.5 out of 10

Oklahoma – 2 out of 10 (TERRRRIIIBBLLEE!!!)

Well, today we drove all the way through Arkansas and half way through Oklahoma. We began in Memphis, traveled across the Mississippi and on to Arkansas. I’ll have to be honest, the bridge over the Mississippi is way intimidating!!! SCARY! But, we made it. The Arkansas line is ON the bridge – crazy! We didn’t get to stop and take good pictures of the river. Pretty disappointed with that one, but our main goal is to get to CA, not the river.

Arkansas is really pretty. There is a lot of agricultural life there. We saw some planes crop dusting – pretty cool.

We all had to get some Chick– Fil – A :o)

Oklahoma… hmmm… what to say about it….???

There was really notmuch to see. There were some casinos and some REALLY bad roads!! Oklahoma City was pretty big and nice. :o)

Chad’s Perspective: What to say? The Mississippi River was… AMAZING! I have always wanted to see it, and it did not dissappoint. And we got to see St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis before we left Tennessee. That was awesome. Arkansas was really pretty. There was some great scenery, and it was great to drive through the state.. Oklahoma was a different beast. There was not much too see, but Oklahoma City was beautiful. As Amber said earlier, the roads, or at least I-40, was terrible.

Everything is good for now. Pray for us as we travel. We do well. Sometimes it is touch-and-go with the truckers, and other people who can’t drive. Apparently, they don’t notice I have a trailer hitched to my truck, and they feel the need to cause me much anguish and road-rage. But, that’s the way of the road, at least on the Open Highway. And I do love the open road. I don’t know what it is, but the open road seems to have a mystique all its own. It is enchanting. Pray for us that we can follow the road safely to our next stop, New Mexico. Until our next post, may God Bless.
